Abstract

The main objective of this research is to analyze research trends in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in relation to rural development, as reflected in scientific publications in the Scopus database from 2012 to 2022. The study aims to identify major contributions, international collaborations, and institutional affiliations. The research methodology is bibliometric analysis, which includes data processing, data visualization, and interpretation of results. The findings show a significant increase in scholarly publications on ICT and rural development, particularly in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. India, China, and the United States have emerged as major contributors, with India having the highest correspondence. The analysis also indicates strong international collaboration and the importance of ICT in various aspects of rural development. This research suggests the need to enhance international collaboration, especially in developing countries, to harness the potential of ICT in rural development. There is a need to strengthen ICT infrastructure in rural areas, enhance research and development capacity, and expand access and education about ICT among rural communities. Doing so can lead to positive changes in economic, social, and infrastructure development in rural areas and improve the quality of life for rural residents.
